Iain Reid’s books are a genre all their own. Think psychological thriller, but the twists are so mind-bendy they’ll pull you into the realm of genuine terror. Even if you’ve never read his books, you might be familiar with I’m Thinking of Ending Things, which was adapted into a film starring Jesse Buckley and Jessie Plemons. Or maybe you even saw Foe, starring Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre. I actually saw the film Foe before I read the book, and I found the premise so intriguing that I really wanted to know more. The book definitely delivered. If you’re a fan of Black Mirror and eerie psychological thrillers, then you have to read this book.
