The Bestselling Books of the Week, According to All the Lists
โ Books ๐ 2026-01-08 ๐ค surdeus ๐๏ธ 2For once, the bestseller lists are pretty much on the same page this week. We have four titles that everyone can agree on. Two are from long-time veterans of the bestseller lists, Dan Brown and John Grisham. One has recently dominated the bestseller lists: Freida McFadden. And the last is from the author of a word-of-mouth hit of 2025: Virginia Evans.
There are two new additions to the lists this time around. Itโs no surprise that one is Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid, since the TV show based on it has been so popular. The other one seems to have popped up out of nowhere: Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. This is a heartwarming novel about kindness and creativity.

This list continues to lack of diversity on many levels, including being disproportionately by white authors. Some Indie Bestsellers you should know about are Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar, The Best American Short Stories 2025 edited by Celeste Ng, and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
To get these numbers, we look at the New York Times, both Combined Print & E-Book Fiction and Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction lists; Amazon Charts, both Fiction and Nonfiction; Publishers Weekly; USA Today; and Indie Bestsellers, Fiction and Nonfiction, both Paperback and Hardcover.
