Libby has shared the most popular books with us from January, and the list includes some of the usual bestselling heavy hitters, like books by Kristin Hannah, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Rebecca Yarros, and others. There are also some very timely additions, such as Heated Rivalry, the second book in Rachel Reid’s queer sports romance series, Game Changer, the classic Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, and sci-fi adventure Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

Speaking of, the popularity of Heated Rivalry, Wuthering Heights, and Project Hail Mary across the more than 22,000 public libraries that Libby serves shows just how influential film and TV show adaptations can be on book checkouts, even when the adaptation hasn’t come out yet (which was and is the case with Wuthering Heights and Project Hail Mary).

As we’ve mentioned before in other Libby round-ups, there isn’t much diversity—actually, this list has none at all. This is the result of an industry that is overdue for an overhaul. Still, there are many great books by BIPOC and queer authors coming out every month. If you’re looking to celebrate Black History Month through your reading, this list of new nonfiction by Black authors to read in 2026 by Leah Rachel von Essen includes, among other titles, When Trees Testify by Beronda Montgomery, The Mixed Marriage Project by Dorothy E. Roberts, Transcendent: A Memoir by Laverne Cox, and Chain of Ideas: The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age by Ibram X. Kendi.

If you’re looking for fiction, Danika Ellis’s round-up of queer books by Black authors lists Fire Sword and Sea by Vanessa Riley, The Feywild Job (Dungeons & Dragons) by C. L. Polk, They All Fall in Love at the End by Haili Blassingame, and others.
