6 of the Best New Book Releases Out April 14, 2026
⚓ Books 📅 2026-04-14 👤 surdeus 👁️ 4April is poetry month, which makes now the perfect time to release a new version of the poem, or the oldest known piece of narrative literature, Gilgamesh, translated by Simon Armitage. It’s barely 200 pages, which is nothing, considering how influential a work it is.
As for other exciting works out this week, there’s folk musician and disability advocate Gaelynn Lea’s memoir, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Perfect, and a couple graphic novels I’m looking forward to: Forgive-Me-Not by Mari Costa and Koharu and Minato by Hyaluron & Daruma (a manga). In the YA category, there are both Soundtrack by Jason Reynolds and Summer Official by Rebekah Weatherspoon. We are truly eating well this spring.
The other notable books out this week include the life of an Upper West Side Stoic by Maria Semple, a gothic, time-traveling tale set in Japan, folkloric queer romantasy, and more.
