People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry was published in 2021, and five years later, we’re getting a movie adaptation. The film of the same name stars Emily Bader as Poppy and Tom Blyth as Alex, and it comes out on Netflix January 9th. Netflix has just released the first teaser trailer, which you can watch below.

As Netflix described it, “Every summer for nearly a decade, free-spirited Poppy and buttoned-up Alex embark on a travel adventure, but after years of not speaking, one fateful trip brings them back together to confront their unspoken feelings for one another.”

People We Meet on Vacation is directed by Brett Haley, and the screenplay was written by Yulin Kuang, Amos Vernon, and Nunzio Randazzo.

This is just the first Emily Henry adaptation, but more of her bestselling romance novels are being adapted: Emily Henry is working on a script of the adaptation of Funny Story, Yulin Kuang is directing and writing the script for Beach Read, Tango is adapting Book Lovers, and Happy Place is being made into a Netflix series.
