If vampires solving a murder, on the cozy side of the mystery genre, is your October reading mood, this is for you!

Arthur and Sal are vampires who prove that some stereotypes aren’t accurate: they’re out in daylight, they eat garlic, and they run a bed and breakfast in Oregon. The problem is that the mayor is found dead with puncture wounds that point at Arthur and Sal, the two vampire residents in an “idyllic” town not friendly to the paranormal. Obviously, they’ll need to solve this murder quickly in order to prove they aren’t murdering vampires!

If you want a dark horror mystery about the things that haunt us, with a crime scene cleaner MC, here’s a pick for that October mood!

During the start of the pandemic, Cora and Delilah Zeng were waiting on the subway platform when Delilah was pushed in front of the train. Cora, now alone in the world, takes a job as a crime scene cleaner working with a crew to clean up horrific scenes. She’s carrying plenty of trauma to haunt her—along with an actual ghost that may be her sister—and there appears to be a serial killer targeting Asian women…

If a fun slasher thriller and killer clowns is your October reading mood, this is for you!

When the small Kettle Springs, Missouri town lost their only doctor, Quinn Maybrook’s father took the job. That’s how she ended up being moved to Philadelphia her senior year, after her mother’s death, to live in an old house next to a cornfield and a closed-down factory. Things take a real bad turn when, at a party, Quinn and her new friends are attacked by an army of clowns with crossbows…
There are two more books in the series, plus a film adaptation!
