10 of the Best Outdoorsy Romance Books to Warm Up With
⚓ Books 📅 2025-11-18 👤 surdeus 👁️ 2Get your camping gear ready: I’m rounding up the best outdoorsy romance books on the market.
The natural world offers plenty of challenges for relationships in romance novels. Disconnected from the comforts of the manufactured world, we must create habitable, safe spaces for ourselves. Do you have to build a fire or forage for food? When a storm comes in, what are you going to do? How are you going to survive the natural environment and all it has to offer?
Whatever the circumstance, the outdoors presents unique problems for any relationship. In outdoorsy romance books, these challenges bring people closer together in one tent, cabin, sleeping bag, etc. (After all, conserving body heat is important.) Plus, what’s more romantic than staring up at the stars or witnessing a beautiful sunset?
When collecting the best outdoorsy romance books, I looked for contemporary and historicals where the romance mostly takes place in the great outdoors. These books can include western romance books, pirate romance books, and even some sports romance books. This resulted in a mixture of pirates, ranchers, cyclists, horses, hikers, and other assorted outdoors people. I will say, they are all absolutely delightful.
