Hello everybody out there using existing bare-metal or hobby OSes!
I’m making an operating system (free and free forever) for x86_64 PCs. It’s a hobby project, not intended to be big or professional like Linux or Windows, but it is my way of contributing to French digital sovereignty and giving back to the country that gave me a chance.
Current state of JC-OS:
Boots using the Rust bootloader crate.
VGA text output & Serial debugging.
PS/2 keyboard input with a built-in Escape-to-clear feature!
Interrupt handling (IDT + PIC 8259).
This is a learning process, but I want to show that we can build foundational tech here in France. I’d love to hear what people like or dislike in these systems, because JC-OS is a bit like them.
