As always you can update rustup itself using:

rustup self update

The headline feature is that rustup will now download components concurrently and unpack during downloads. Which should make installing and updating faster. This is thanks to a GSOC 2025 project and in particular Francisco Gouveia who has now joined the rustup team.

Also rustup has improved its use of colours when printing to a terminal. It's now much more similar to Cargo.
