I love original species. I know ponytown has several user created species and I wanna know how closed species are viewed in the community. Basically, a closed species is any original species whose distribution is regulated. You “must” receive permission or pay the owner to create a character or avatar of (or in other fandoms, even draw).

I don’t care if other people want to follow these rules. That’s their choice. I however know that a species cannot be copyrighted and there is no way for anyone to stop you from making closed species characters without permission or payment, so if I see a species I like, I don’t care if it’s open or closed. I’ll make a character anyway, and I’ll make however many I want with whatever traits I want.

Closed species originated in the furry fandom but nowadays the issues surrounding them has kinda died down. Before, you’d get ostracized from the community if you made an illegal closed species character. I’m not too familiar with Ponytown and I wanna know is this community like that? Are unofficial cs characters a huge deal here?
