to start off i hope im using the right flare so i apologize in advance if its not the right one

so im not an avid ponytown player but i do love to make ponies and chat every now and then. i decided to make a candle-like pony after collecting the halloween toys and upon making the "burning" areas where its supposed to look like burning candle flames/hot wax, i noticed the shadowing was really frustrating to work with. is there something different i should to do (whether it be color pallet or shade) to combat the shadowing or is there kinda nothing i can do about it? not sure if i can just turn off shadows either.
(used the legs as the color pallet example)
